In this handbook you find out that new grading techniques, customer-specific products, and increasingly direct contacts with end-customers require new clear rules for timber grading. In order to ensure secure communication between seller and buyer, the grading guidelines must be understood in the same way by both parties.
The new Commercial Grading of Timber has been produced through a careful examination of the figures used in previous grading rules, and revision of these figures based on production- and market related requirements. An additional basis for the new grading system was a series of test gradings that compared the different sets of rules.
